STUART RATTLE "MUSK FARM" OPEN GARDEN

19 - 20 Nov, 2011
Musk Farm, 11 School Rd, Musk, VIC 3460
(10mins from Stonefields)

In 1998 interior designer Stuart Rattle purchased a property near Daylesford, Victoria, that was originally the Musk Primary School. In the past 11 years the garden has steadily grown to take up the entire [1.4ha]. In 2003 the adjoining [36.4ha] farm was purchased and now the garden spills across the entire property.

Some of the more unique plants in Rattle's garden include a collection of rhododendrons, in particular Rhododendron sinogrande from the Himalayas. Also of note are the spring galanthus (snowdrops) from the Balkans, Crimea and northern Turkey; carpets of solitary, pendulous, bell-shaped white flowers held on slender grey-green stems.

Tickets $10 purchased at the farm gate. All proceeds going to Wombat Hill Botanic Gardens. Open 10am – 4pm

BALLARAT CUP

20 Nov 2011
Ballarat Turf Club

Formed in 1854, the Ballarat Turf Club is steeped in tradition. It has occupied its current site at Dowling Forest since 1972 and is now one of Victoria's major thoroughbred training centres. Dowling Forest is situated on 300 hectares of land at Miners Rest, 15 kilometres north-west of the central business district of Ballarat.

The Ballarat Turf Club boasts one of provincial Victoria's premier racetracks, hosting over 32 race meets in the upcoming 2011-2012 race season, the most conducted on any grass circuit in regional Victoria. The feature event of the year is the Ballarat Cup held on Sunday 20th November 2011. This event is almost as well known for its off-the- field fashion as it is for being one of the most popular country racing events in the annual social calendar.

Marc Romanella, our General Manager and Carolyn, our Marketing Director, will both be there in top hats and finery; mingling with high society at the Kingprint Marquee. Any excuse to dress up and drink champagne is always a good one apparently!
